Bilcare Research, has announced the launch of the Bilcare Research Academy in partnership with Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). The academy shall open up 25 centers in India and other parts of Asia by 2010 with an initial investment of 20 crores. This is the first ever ACRP accredited professional educational course in Asia, which has been brought through an exclusive tie-up. ACRP will also establish its Indian Chapter, and launch its activities in entire South East Asia.
“ACRP and Bilcare have a common interest to enhance the capability, competency and expertise of the professionals engaged in developing, monitoring, conducting and supervising clinical trials in India and other Asian countries by way of specialised training programmes. The first phase of our partnership will focus on programmes in India and Singapore, to be followed in a second phase by Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and China,” says Thomas L Adams, CAE President and Chief Executive Officer, ACRP. Under this agreement, Bilcare Research Academy will offer a one-year postgraduate diploma accredited by ACRP in Clinical Trials Management to graduates of pharmacy, life sciences and medicine.
The admission procedure will be through an online test for only 50 seats. Apart from getting a diploma, the students shall also get a one-year membership from ACRP.
Clinical research activity has seen an exponential rise in the last few years. Industry sources suggest that by 2010 the total market could touch $2.0 billion and the industry would require approximately 20,000 to 50,000 trained personnel. Bilcare intends to bridge this gap and produce around 5,000 world-class clinical research professionals by 2010. “Bilcare has always been a research driven company, the launch of the academy was a logical extension in the knowledge management arena. Increasingly, global pharmaceutical companies are looking for ACRP certified professionals to work on their clinical trial, thus Bilcare aims to bring quality and confidence to the industry in the Asian region” said Chief Scientific Officer, Dr Praful Naik.
