The programme would have two interrelated components, the first qualifying the industry for the EE programme based on a set of qualitative criteria and the second leading to the selection of the industry with the best environmental performance.
The WBCPC constituted a committee to decide on the modalities and criteria for selection of the awardees. A group of seven industries were shortlisted by the committee on the basis of their environmental compliance status during the last financial year. The compliance report was obtained from the WBPCB.
