The Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (IPER), established in 1990, has been an epitome of excellence in pharmacy education. Located at Kothrud, Pune, the premier pharma management institute conducts its continuing education programme with experts from the pharma industry and examination is conducted by managers from reputed pharmaceutical companies. Spearheaded by Dr M D Burande, honorary director and chairman, IPER is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including air-conditioned seminar hall, audio visual aids, library, videocassettes and sophisticated administrative office. Dr Burande had been awarded the best young pharmacy teacher award for 1997-98 by APTI.

Besides, the institute conducts two-days certificate programme on various subjects linked with interview techniques at many pharmacy colleges in India. For pharmaceutical industry, seminars on the topic of current interest are held regularly to serve the profession. It has been selected as a coding centre by ORG MARG in prescription analysis. The institute has been selected by Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council, Madhya Pradesh State Pharmacy Council and Chattisgarh State Pharmacy Council to train retail pharmacists in the state.
IPER also conduct GATE course for pharmacy students which enable them to qualify for post graduation in pharmacy. Students can either do three pharmaceutical management diploma courses at a time or can complete any three diploma one after other to get the award of Masters Diploma in Pharmaceutical Management (MDPM), which is equivalent to MBA with specialisation in pharmaceuticals.
Besides, IPER conducts two-days certificate programme on varios subjects linked with interview techniques at many pharmacy colleges in India. The institute felicitates pharma people for their motivation and contribution to pharmacy profession.
Some of the achivements of the institute include: IPER collaborated with Novartis for master’s diploma in pharmaceutical marketing for professional field training.
The late Ramanbhai Patel, chairman and managing director, Zydus Cadila was the recipient of IPER’s outstanding performance award for 1997-98.
