SIESCOM launches PG diploma in biotech business management

The South Indian Education Society College of Management Studies (SIESCOMS) and the SIES-Indian Institute of Environment Management (IIEM) have joined together to launch a unique Post-Graduate Diploma in Biotechnology Business Management (PGDBBM) Programme.
The course will be conducted in the campus of SIESCOMS and SIES-IIEM at Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The programme is of 21–months duration spanning four semesters and aimed at creating managers and entrepreneurs for this global knowledge industry. The first and second semesters will comprise basic and applied concepts in biotechnology and management in an integrated manner, informed a press release.
During these semesters, the students will also be given laboratory exposure to biotech research. There will be a summer internship of eight weeks duration at the end of the first year with a biotech company. The third semester stresses on specialisation in the biotech sector followed by a capstone project in the last semester, the release added.
The prospective candidates should be graduates in biotechnology, pharmacy, life science, microbiology, chemistry, BE (Chemicals) from a recognised university with minimum 50 per cent of marks in graduation. Students appeared for final year examination and awaiting results can also apply for the course, according to the release.
SIESCOM is the flagship institution of the Society in the area of management education and SIES-IIEM is the other recently established educational constituent of the Society that has impetus on both academics and research and is focused on inter disciplinary areas of biotechnology, bioinformatics and environment management.
